I bought a new lens in New York, the Nikkor 70-300 f/4.5 - 5.6G IF-ED VR, because I wanted stabilization for low light shooting. What I didn't expect to be such a change from my old 70-300 is for the faster AF to make such a difference. Now that I can frame, focus and shoot in a fraction of a second, I have rediscovered candid street photography. And what better place to practice it than mighty old New York, really?

This was shot in Chinatown, near the Canal street subway station. A few meters away stands the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to (Excellent Dumpling House, 111 Lafayette st). Be sure to give it a try if you are in the area!

  • Very nice portrait. And congratulation for your new lens. We should try it one day in the bazaar...
